Over the years, many absurd internet challenges have surfaced, but few are as offensive as this one. The challenge involves stomping on the American flag — One brave Marine veteran refused to stay silent.

The Flag Stomping Challenge

Known as the “Eric Sheppard Challenge,” this trend was named after a controversial figure linked to protests in Georgia, where police found his gun on a school campus.

Participants in the challenge film themselves destroying an American flag to show support for Sheppard. Shockingly, many have taken part in this disrespectful act.

Marine Veteran Steps In

U.S. Marine veteran Shane Lawler finally spoke out. He posted a heartfelt video addressing the challenge and sharing his perspective on the flag’s significance.

“What we have is a group of people challenging others to stand on the American flag — desecrating it, dancing on it, jumping on it, all kinds of disrespectful things,” said Lawler, clearly frustrated.

He called the challenge “ridiculous” and explained why desecrating the flag is so offensive when you consider our history.

“I want to remind everyone that at some point in history, my ancestors, your ancestors, everyone’s ancestors fought in some way, shape, or form to be part of this country — to live under the nation represented by that flag,” Lawler added.
