After two days of searching, they found the girl, then 10 years old, in the worst possible way. Oh, how sad.
After two days of intense searching, the body of Dulce Victoria, a 10-year-old girl who accidentally fell into the Lerma River last Thursday, was located. The discovery ends hopes of finding her alive, shocking the Salamanca community.
The Salamanca community has expressed special gratitude to Liborio Vázquez and his Salamanca Rescue Brigade for their tireless work, which culminated in the location of the minor’s body. Various organizations actively participated in the search operations, including Municipal and State Civil Protection, diving teams, the Salamanca Fire Department and Red Cross, as well as authorities from Irapuato, Pueblo Nuevo, and Huanímaro.
The incident was reported around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, when emergency numbers were alerted about a child clinging to a tree in the middle of the Lerma River.
After being rescued, the boy reported that he was playing with Dulce Victoria when they both fell into the water. He managed to hold on to avoid being swept away by the strong current, while his friend was swept away by the river. From that moment on, rescue teams began a continuous search until this Saturday morning, when Dulce Victoria’s body was found.
