Trump Reportedly Blocked Elon Musk from Classified China Briefing After Leak
Donald Trump allegedly barred Elon Musk from attending a top-secret government meeting on China after the billionaire angered White House officials.
According to Axios, the decision followed a leak that Musk would be briefed on potential U.S. military actions involving China. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suspended two Pentagon aides, Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick, who were suspected of leaking the information.
Sources say Trump was furious when he learned Musk was invited, reportedly shouting, “What the f**k is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn’t go.” The former president was concerned about Musk’s extensive business ties to China, including Tesla’s Shanghai factory, which produces half of the company’s vehicles.
Though Musk showed up at the Pentagon on March 21 and met with Hegseth for 80 minutes, officials claim China was not discussed. Musk refused to provide details, telling reporters, “Why should I tell you?”
Trump publicly denied that any China-related briefing took place, blasting The New York Times report as “fake news.” He emphasized that U.S. military plans should not be shared with anyone who may have foreign business entanglements.
Meanwhile, Musk called for the prosecution of those who leaked the story, warning on X: “They will be found.”
The incident comes amid rising U.S.-China tensions, with Trump imposing steep tariffs and Beijing responding in kind.
