The Supreme Leader of Iran has delivered a statement to the nation – his first video message since the American attacks and the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
In a post on X before the message, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed victory over Israel – and also said that Iran had delivered a “heavy slap” to the United States.
In the video statement, he said that the U.S. “failed to achieve anything significant” by attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities and accused Donald Trump of giving an “extremely exaggerated” account of what happened, according to the BBC, as reported by the portal rtv21.tv.
Two weeks ago, Israel began airstrikes against Iran, before Iran responded with missile attacks – after a ceasefire was agreed, Trump called it a “12-day war.”
The U.S. also attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, before Iran responded with strikes on a U.S. base in Qatar.
Later, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is expected to hold a press conference on the impact of the American strikes on the nuclear facilities.
