Iran Attacks U.S. Bases in Qatar After U.S. Strikes Nuclear Sites
Iran launched at least six missiles at U.S. military outposts in Qatar on Monday, reportedly in response to American strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities. Explosions were heard in Doha, though no casualties were confirmed. This marks one of the largest direct attacks by Iran on U.S. forces since 2020.
The U.S. Embassy in Qatar issued a “shelter in place” order, citing heightened tensions. Meanwhile, Fox News reported Iran could target more U.S. military assets in the region within 48 hours.
The U.S. State Department urged citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution amid rising regional instability due to the broader conflict involving Israel and Iran.
President Trump’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities drew criticism from some lawmakers, but GOP leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson and Sens. John Thune and Tom Cotton, defended the decision, calling it necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The administration emphasized that the U.S. is not at war with Iran and that the strikes were limited and targeted.
