Elon Musk Clashes with Schiff on Twitter

One of the key changes Elon has brought is the idea that no one, including politicians, is above being openly mocked or criticized. He’s shown that it’s possible to expose the flaws of public figures with humor and make it clear when they are acting hypocritically or ineffectively.

A perfect example of this occurred when Rep. Adam Schiff sparked controversy by posting about supposed increases in hate speech on Twitter, claiming:

– Slurs against Black people have tripled
– Slurs against women have risen 33%
– Slurs against Jewish people have gone up 61%
– Slurs against gay men have increased by 58%

He called these numbers unacceptable and demanded action alongside Rep. Mark Takano.

However, Schiff quickly became the target of mockery on Twitter. For one, the platform fact-checked his claim, adding context that clarified the numbers referred to tweets containing hate-related content, but pointed out that Elon Musk had said harmful tweets’ impressions had actually declined since he took over.

Elon Musk himself stepped in, tweeting, “False, hate speech impressions are actually down by 1/3 for Twitter now vs prior to acquisition @CommunityNotes.”

In response, Schiff reacted angrily, accusing Elon of allowing hate groups to flock to Twitter and spread hate speech, and demanded evidence for his claims, which Musk quickly shot down.

RedState weighed in, criticizing Schiff for his lack of evidence to back his accusations. They argued that Schiff’s real concern was not the truth but about losing control, as Twitter under Musk no longer aligns with the narrative the left wants to push. The piece pointed out that Schiff didn’t demand action when more harmful content, including slurs and child exploitation, was prevalent on Twitter prior to Musk’s acquisition. The Hunter Biden laptop story, for example, was suppressed without Schiff objecting. This new complaint, they argue, is just an excuse to force Twitter back into the left-wing fold.

So, while Schiff continues to make unsubstantiated claims, Elon Musk’s efforts to restore transparency and accountability on Twitter continue, transforming it into a platform that supports free speech and provides a more balanced public forum.
