MSNBC Host Walks Away After Just 50 Days—Is Trump to Blame?
Imagine having the financial freedom to step away from your job simply because Donald Trump wears you out. That’s the reality for MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, who recently announced he’s taking a break after just 50 days of covering Trump’s presidency, citing “exhaustion.”
O’Donnell made the revelation on Rachel Maddow’s show, where the two hosts seemingly formed an on-air support group. Maddow, who committed to working every weekday during Trump’s first 100 days, offered emotional reassurance as O’Donnell admitted he couldn’t keep up.
“This is day 52, I thought it was day 92,” O’Donnell sighed. “I’m taking next week off… then I’ll be back to finish the hundred days.” Maddow sympathized, telling him, “You have to take care of yourself.”
Before his announcement, O’Donnell had launched into a fiery monologue against Trump, claiming the president’s brain is “broken” and suggesting any other leader making similar statements would be sent for neurological evaluation.
His departure comes amid major changes at MSNBC, including the firing of Joy Reid and the demotion of Alex Wagner—moves that Maddow publicly criticized, calling them “indefensible.”
