Florida Cops Bust Massive Fraud Ring Involving Corrupt DMV Employees Aiding Illegal Immigrants
Florida law enforcement has dismantled a large-scale fraud operation that was illegally selling driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants. According to a press release from the Florida Attorney General’s Office, several members of the ring were employees of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), who issued an “unusually large number” of licenses in exchange for under-the-table payments.
The operation was uncovered on June 12, 2025, when Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford had successfully shut down what was described as “an illegal alien driver’s license scheme.” The investigation revealed that individuals were traveling from across Florida to obtain fraudulent licenses through this network.
In an official statement, Attorney General Uthmeier said,
“Florida’s Sheriffs are on the front lines of our state’s fight against illegal immigration, and Sheriff Ford is rooting out the corruption they bring into our state.”
He issued a stern warning to others considering similar actions:
“To any illegal alien coming to Florida to commit further crimes: we are going to find you, hold you accountable, and then send you back to where you came from.”
The press release further explained that two DMV employees in Bay County had been issuing an unusually high number of licenses. Surveillance footage later confirmed that these employees allowed undocumented immigrants to bypass the legal testing process required for obtaining a license.
According to reporting by the South Florida Reporter, Attorney General Uthmeier connected the fraudulent activity to what he called the consequences of the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
“I think today is yet another example of how the Biden border policy puts American families at risk,” Uthmeier stated.
He went on to criticize the criminal aspect of the fraud scheme, saying:
“Hundreds of aliens were cheating, breaking the law—buying driver’s licenses without taking the test, getting on the roads, and putting everybody in danger.”
Sheriff Ford elaborated further during a press briefing, stating that most of those who obtained fraudulent licenses “had some type of status.” He noted:
“Some of that is asylum status, which we know is a very controversial process, and doesn’t take a lot to get that status.”
Importantly, Ford confirmed that many of the licenses issued illegally were commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs), which permit individuals to operate large vehicles such as trucks and buses.
“Let me be clear,” he said, “putting untested, unqualified drivers—especially those with commercial licenses—on our roads is an unacceptable risk to every family in this state.”
In response to the news, the popular American Truckers account on X (formerly Twitter) posted:
“Florida is one of 10 states FLOODING the trucking industry with illegal foreign labor. This is happening EN MASSE across the U.S. RIGHT NOW!”
