JD Vance Briefly Suspended from Bluesky After Joining Platform

Vice President JD Vance was briefly suspended from Bluesky, a left-leaning social media platform, shortly after joining on Wednesday.
Vance’s first post read:
“Hello Bluesky, I’ve been informed your app has become the place to go for common sense political conversation and analysis. So I’m delighted to be here.”
He also shared a screenshot of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion in United States v. Skrmetti, which upheld Tennessee’s restrictions on puberty blockers and hormone therapies for minors. He followed with two more posts discussing Thomas’ views.
Soon after, X users noticed that Vance’s account had been suspended. Bluesky later confirmed the suspension was triggered by automated systems meant to detect impersonation. The account was restored and verified by Thursday morning.
The suspension comes as speculation grows about Vance’s potential 2028 presidential run. Meanwhile, Rupert Murdoch’s media outlets—The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and the New York Post—have escalated criticism of Vance, continuing a campaign that began when he was considered for Trump’s 2024 running mate.
A source close to Vance told Breitbart News the media attacks are part of a broader effort by establishment figures to undermine Trump’s foreign and trade policies.
“Neocons are furious they have no foothold in this administration,” the source said. “Trump’s foreign policy successes have exposed their failures.”
GOP strategists argue Murdoch’s media empire is increasingly out of step with Republican voters, while alternative outlets like Breitbart are gaining influence.
“Trump has led the GOP for nearly a decade, and Murdoch-media still isn’t on board,” one strategist said. “They’re losing access—and relevance.”
Since February, The Wall Street Journal alone has published at least 17 critical pieces on Vance, highlighting a rift between traditional conservatives and the party’s emerging populist wing.
